Saksey's feels like stepping through a side door in downtown Detroit and landing somewhere between old money and old stories.
The room has that Mad Men-era Detroit energy: sixties and seventies furniture, dim light, vintage swagger, and just enough mystery to make you sit up a little straighter at the bar. Old blueprints of the city. Detroit sports legends. Artifacts with a pulse. It's the kind of decor you don't stumble into often, and you definitely don't find in the burbs.
You can't help but look around and take in the details, because here the details are the point. Even the scent in the room hits right and adds an extra layer of class.
That's how the room felt to me on the night — my take on the atmosphere, not a history of the place or a verdict on the drinks.
