The Shooki Review

Visited July 2026

I disappeared for a few days.

Not necessarily by choice. My phone may or may not have fallen into a river during an up-north floating extravaganza with the crew.

Expensive mistake? Probably. Worth it? Absolutely.

A forced social-media cleanse, a little fresh air, and enough questionable decisions to come home thirsty.

I was told to check out Time Will Tell.

Well, the time is now, my friends.

First impression? A little stale.

Parking around New Center can be a pain, with Wayne State traffic and the QLINE moving through the area. Not my favorite location, but location isn’t everything.

Inside, the room looks good. Low lighting, thoughtful decor, and a glowing jukebox sitting in the corner like a relic from a better night.

Unfortunately, the place was pretty dead when I visited. That made the bar feel more awkward than intimate. Could’ve just been the day, so I won’t bury them for that.

I ordered an Old Fashioned—my usual measuring stick.

Simple drink. Nowhere to hide.

And honestly, it didn’t move me.

Detroit has some killers in the cocktail game. Sugar House. Wright & Company. Bad Luck. Places where the drinks arrive with purpose.

Here, the location felt inconvenient, the room lacked energy, and the cocktail felt average while still carrying competitive pricing.

Not trying to hate. Just being honest. Detroit has some excellent bars—and a few that might be surviving on hype.

Now, the restroom.

One private restroom for the entire place.

Most of my followers already know the rule: one restroom can only climb so high on Shooki.

It was really clean so credit where it’s due. But it wasn’t accessible, and when everyone shares one bathroom, capacity and privacy can become an issue quickly. 🚫♿️

Time Will Tell lands at a 6/10.

What Google Reviewers Say

9.6/10

4.8 on Google · 186 reviews · Read on Google →

Reviewers love the quirky vintage decor - floral wallpaper, sherbet-hued booths, and a glowing jukebox - paired with well-crafted cocktails like the Peace Frog and TWT Marg. It's a popular New Center happy-hour spot with friendly bartenders, though a few visitors note it can feel quiet on slower nights.
