My Way Cigar Bar

Tucked inside the Penobscot Building downtown, My Way — full name: Did It My Way Detroit Cigar & Wine Bar — is about as close as Detroit gets to a members-club fantasy without needing a membership. Plush leather seating, a fireplace, and a humidor that cigar people take seriously, plus wine and craft cocktails and staff who treat you like a regular on your first visit. No DJ, no chaos — just an old-school, dressed-up lounge, and one of the more polished rooms downtown. Word of warning though: the kitchen doesn't always keep pace with the rest of the operation.

Now, the restrooms. The headline feature is the oversized full-length mirrors — one reviewer even calls them out specifically, and they're clearly built for a quick outfit check before you head back to your leather chair. That's a real point in the win column, and more than most bars bother with. Beyond the mirrors, though, it's a standard restroom experience: functional, fine, nothing else that stands out or earns extra credit. For a lounge this dressed-up, I wanted the bathroom to carry the same VIP energy as the front of the house, and it just doesn't get there. No standout amenities, nothing memorable once you look past the reflection. Solid, but middle of the pack.
