The Shooki Review
Visited June 2026
The best Shooki in Michigan, in my opinion.
The DAC is a gem amongst gems. One of those rare places in Michigan that feels closer to The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island than your average city club. There’s no other way to say it — this place oozes old-school wealth, service, and class.
The second you walk in, you know the standard is different. The service is sharp, the building is stunning, and yes, you better come dressed for the occasion. This is not a hoodie-and-sneakers operation. The dress code is real.
There’s a lot I could say about the DAC, but here are the essentials.
Dinner in the dining room is a must. Suit jacket required for the boys. And believe it or not, get the perch. Best I’ve ever had.
Most importantly, enjoy the wine. The DAC has one of the best sommeliers in the country — Tatiana — and people quite literally come from all over the world just to experience her guidance. If you get the chance, request to see her and let her take the wheel.
Then finish the night on the rooftop with a cocktail, maybe a cigar if that’s your thing, and one of the best views of Detroit I’ve seen so far.
Now, the restrooms.
Top class.
You’re never far from one, and accessibility is easily the best I’ve seen in Detroit. Elevators, ramps, automatic accessible doors — they covered it. ♿️
The restrooms are stocked with hand lotion, hand towels, mouthwash, fresh soap, neat seat covers, and baby changing stations.
Capacity? Also elite. Multiple stalls, multiple urinals, plenty of space, and everything felt constantly monitored and squeaky clean.
Yes, you need to be a member or guest to experience it, but I have to call it what it is.
The DAC is the best Shooki in Detroit. Hands down.
If someone knows a better one, I’m all ears.
Cheers to you, DAC. 🥂
Top class. 👏🏼

Reviewers describe the DAC as an elegant, old-school private club with attentive service, an admired dining room, and rooftop views overlooking Comerica Park. Note this is a members-and-guests-only club - the general public cannot walk in without a member or reciprocal-club access.
