Is that enough?

I respect Detroits dive bar scene, I really do. However, London Chop House is way more my speed. I don’t know why, but to me personally, when I go out and I’m going to spend money, I want to feel respected, taking care of, and most importantly get a solid drink and meal. Bonus points, in the LCH’s case you can get all of that and then some. They offer live music and cigar lounge upstairs. How can it get any better than that?

Well, it can. They have one of the best happy hours in all of downtown. What’s so good about their happy hour? I wish I could tell you that, but unfortunately, this is one of my main go-to’s for happy hour in the city and I’m concerned that could change if things get too popular 👀🦪🍾

The LCH is classy from start to finish. Dress code is required, coat check offered, valet, and a doorman who greets you in and out.

Located in a basement this is the perfect place for me to be on a day like today where you want to be as far away as possible from and the smoke that ensues.

That’s why I’m here, but more so the great wine list, cocktails, bar to sit up at solo, and of course the steaks.

Restrooms:

One male and one female. I reviewed the men’s of course.

Very clean, private, and covers capacity. They even have the old school newspaper clippings above the urinals and even packs of ice in the urinals 👌🏼 nice amenities like fresh hand soap, mouth wash, and paper towels.

Everything is perfect except well one of the most important things in my ratings. Accessibility. It’s an old school building with no elevator to my knowledge and the restroom is way too skinny to move around.

Outside of that an awesome place. Don’t check out their happy hour….😒

See where London Chop House ranks among Detroit's top American restaurants.

What Google Reviewers Say

9.2 /10

4.6 on Google · 1,694 reviews · Read on Google →

Reviewers describe the London Chop House as stepping into Detroit's mid-century power-dining era — the 1938 institution revived in 2012, with tableside polish, dry-aged steaks and Wagyu, live music nightly, and a cigar and billiards lounge below. It's the anniversary and big-deal-dinner default, and guests talk about the doorman and service as much as the food. Dress accordingly: proper attire is required, and Sundays are private events only.
