The Yard at Corktown is basically Detroit's backyard party turned up to eleven — axe throwing, darts, shuffleboard, cornhole, giant beer pong, a wall of board games, and a couple of bars inside plus more out on the patio when the weather cooperates. There's even an Airstream food truck parked indoors. It's built for groups: bring six friends and everybody finds something to do. Fair warning, though — the food menu is pretty limited, service can lag when the place gets slammed, there's a cover on busy weekend nights, and your paid axe-throwing hour might be shared with strangers. None of that killed the vibe for me; the staff kept things friendly even with the place at full tilt.
Now, the restrooms. Clean and functional, which honestly counts for something in a venue moving this many people and this much beer. But that's about where the story ends — no standout amenities, nothing memorable, nothing that earns bonus points. Decent bones, kept up, and that's it. For a spot that put this much creativity into the games, I'd love to see a little of it spill over into the bathrooms.
The Yard lands at a 7/10 on Shooki. ✌🏼
