Just a heads up — this place gets lit on the weekends.
I’m talking lines out the door, people dressed like they came to be seen, and that rooftop energy where everybody knows they’re part of the view too. Nothing wrong with being in demand👌🏼
IO sits on top of The Godfrey Hotel, and for Detroit, rooftop spots like this still feel like a bit of a luxury. You get up there, grab a drink, look out over the city, and for a second it feels like Detroit is showing off a little.
The view is beautiful. The crowd is lively. The drink menu has range. My only knock is the pricing. Some of the cocktails felt a little too Chicago/NYC for Detroit, and I mean that with love. I get the rooftop tax, but double-the-usual-price territory always hurts a little.
Now, the restrooms.
They’re nice once you get there, but it’s a bit of a journey. Long enough that you might start questioning if you’re walking in the right direction. Because of that, I have to knock it down slightly on accessibility. ♿️
But once inside, they covered capacity well. Spacious, relatively clean, nice hand soap, paper towels, and a diffuser doing some serious work in the background.
Overall, strong rooftop experience and a solid restroom setup once you make the hike.
I’ll definitely be back this summer.

Google reviewers rave about IO Godfrey's panoramic rooftop views and lively, dressed-up crowd atop the Godfrey Hotel in Corktown, though several flag the cocktails as overpriced and service as inconsistent. It's regarded as one of Detroit's go-to rooftop scenes, especially on weekends.
