The Shooki Review

Visited June 2026

The Bastille is one of those places you somehow miss until you don’t.

It sits in a part of Detroit with plenty of traffic around it, but still manages to feel a little hidden. From the outside, it gives you speakeasy. Inside, it’s more of a beer-drinking, pool-playing, after-dinner kind of joint.

Not too polished. Not too loud. Somewhere in that sweet middle ground between Spkrbox and Queens Bar.

A good spot when you’re not ready to go home yet, but you’re also not trying to make a whole production out of the night.

Now, the restroom.

From what I could tell, they had two restrooms — male and female — both single stall, which gives you privacy. They also seemed relatively accessible, which is always worth calling out. ♿️

The main knocks here are capacity and cleanliness. I was there on a busy night, and when a small restroom setup gets a lot of traffic, it can be hard to keep things feeling fresh.

Not bad. Not great. Just one of those restroom situations that depends heavily on the night.

So The Bastille lands at a 6/10.

Check it out if you’re looking for that in-between kind of Detroit spot.
