The Shooki Review

Visited June 2026

Presley’s feels like one of those downtown Detroit spots trying to be a little bit of everything.

Breakfast. Dinner. Cocktails. Brunch. A place for the hotel crowd, the after-work crowd, the “let’s grab one drink before the game” crowd. Right in the middle of it all, sitting there with the kind of confidence a new downtown restaurant needs to survive.

The room has polish. The menu has range. The location makes sense. You can see why people would stop in before a night out, after a show, or when they just want something easy downtown without overthinking it.

That said, nothing really stood out to me compared to some of the other bars and restaurants nearby. The overall vibe felt a little mediocre and not especially approachable or comfortable. The drink menu was fine, but when I looked through the wine list, there wasn’t much that got me excited.

If I had to sum it up in one sentence, it felt a lot like grabbing a drink at a Marriott Bonvoy hotel lobby bar. Nothing terrible. Nothing amazing. Just kind of there.

If you’re staying at the hotel, grab a drink and check out the vibe for yourself. But after one, I’d probably keep walking. Honestly, you could even skip it altogether and head over to The Library Bar nearby.

Not trying to hate—just being honest with my followers.

But now, for the important part.

The restroom.

From what I saw, there was only one bathroom available, and that’s where the rating takes another hit.

For a place trying to serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, brunch, and a full downtown crowd, one restroom is tough. Maybe fine on a slow afternoon. Maybe not so fine when the room fills up and the drinks start moving.

And on Shooki, capacity matters.

The restroom itself was okay, but one bathroom for a busy downtown spot is always going to make me pause.

Between the fairly forgettable bar experience and the restroom situation, Presley’s lands at a 5/10.

Google reviewers like Presley's bright, comfortable dining room inside the historic David Whitney building and call out dishes like the lobster roll and espresso martini, though some mention inconsistent food quality. It's positioned as an all-day downtown spot for breakfast, brunch, and cocktails at Park Ave and Woodward.
