The Shooki Review

Visited May 2026

There’s something strangely cinematic about the walk to this bathroom.

It’s tucked away deep enough that you start to wonder if you’re still headed in the right direction. A few doors, a hallway, oversized plants closing in around you — suddenly it feels less like a restaurant restroom and more like a quiet walk through the jungle.

Privacy? Absolutely. Almost too much of it.

But that’s also where the problem starts. For anyone thinking about accessibility, this restroom is going to be a tough one. The route alone makes it feel hidden, disconnected, and not exactly easy to navigate.

The restroom itself was clean, but the decor didn’t quite match the hype of the restaurant. And for a spot this size, one stall is always going to be a problem in my book. You’ve got to give the people more than one option.

Last thing — the faucet seemed to be broken during the visit, which didn’t help the score.

Still love the restaurant, but the bathroom experience lands at a 6/10.

Grey Ghost is a well-regarded modern American restaurant on the Brush Park/Midtown border, named after a Prohibition-era rum runner. Reviewers consistently praise the inventive small plates, cocktail program, and lively dining-room energy from a respected Detroit chef team.
