Batch Brewing
1400 Porter St, Detroit, MI 48216
The Shooki Review
Batch Brewing is Corktown's original nano brewery — it won the Hatch Detroit contest, opened on Porter Street in 2015, and has been quietly beloved ever since. A 4.7 on Google across nearly a thousand reviews doesn't happen by accident: small-batch beers that rotate constantly, a scratch kitchen that punches way above what a taproom needs to serve, and the Feel Good Tap, where every pour sends money to a local cause. Communal tables, board games, a patio that fills up fast — it's exactly the kind of neighborly, no-pretension spot Detroit does best.
Now, the restrooms. The word is serviceable, not special. Reviewers who bother to mention them say they're kept clean, which counts for something. But one regular's warning tells you plenty: even when the lock reads occupied, somebody's going to rattle the handle anyway. So on a packed night when the taproom and patio are both full, expect to wait your turn and don't expect frills — the love here clearly went into the beer and the kitchen, not the plumbing. Fine in a pinch, forgettable otherwise.
Great brewery, middle-of-the-road bathroom situation. Batch Brewing lands at a 5/10 on Shooki.
