The Bronx Bar

I got a lot of request for this one and I’ve got to say I’m glad I finally listened.

now I’m usually more of an upscale Vino kind of guy give me a decent red, a quiet bar maybe a bartender who knows the difference between burgundy and Bordeaux.

but I’m also from Michigan.

and if there’s one thing this state knows how to do, it’s a dive bar.

The Bronx is Detroit in one room. Rough. Loud. Unpolished. No bullshit. But somehow still safe, friendly, and genuinely welcoming.

when I walked up, people were already spilling outside. Inside, the craic was mighty. Packed room. Pool balls, cracking in the background. Burgers hitting the grill. Loud groups buried in the corners. And somehow, right in the middle of all of it, one empty seat at the bar, waiting for me.

The place felt warm. Familiar. Like the kind of neighborhood bar where you come home for the holidays and run into three people you haven’t seen in 10 years.

I usually order wine, but there wasn’t anything even close to what I’d normally drink on the menu.

So I grabbed a Yuengling.

Best decision I could’ve made.

A couple next to me immediately commented on it, and just like that, the night started. One beer, one conversation, and suddenly you’re talking like you’ve known each other for years.

That’s the kind of place this is.

Now, the restrooms.

They have one men’s and one women’s restroom.

And I have to be brutally honest, the men’s was rough.

Not clean. No real amenities. No privacy. The door felt like it opened straight back into the crowd, and access accessibility was a no go. 🚫♿️

I would not want to shook in their under any circumstances.

That lands the restroom at a 1/10.

Which is a shame, because the bar itself has one of the best genuine neighborhood vibes. I felt in a while.

I tried to make my way out after failing to keep up with the drinks. The couple next to me kept buying.

Then some stranger grabbed me and challenge me to a game of pool.

So of course, I went back in.

sorry to the guy who asked me to play. I honestly never play….
