Man… where is everybody?
Sun shining. Weather perfect. USMNT playing a World Cup match. And I’m sitting in a place that feels like it was built for exactly this kind of moment.
Big room. Open windows. Outdoor seating. Drinks flowing. Kreuzberg-inspired energy. Döner on the menu. The kind of place that should be packed with people yelling at a screen, ordering another round, and pretending soccer has always been their whole personality.
To be fair, the game was on.
But then I got the boot before it even really started because they closed at 9pm on a Thursday.
A Berlin-inspired bar closing before kickoff? Come on now. Berlin would never. Lol.
Maybe that’s the posted hours. Fair enough. But still… kind of an airball for a place that feels like it should own nights like this.
Outside of that, the space is great.
Supergeil has style. The decor hits. On an 80-degree Detroit day, with the windows open and a drink in hand, it feels like one of those spots you want to like more than you actually do.
Personally, I wanted a better wine selection. Michigan wine only is a tough sell for me. And the döner? I know that’s the whole thing here, but honestly, it didn’t blow me away.
Not trying to hate. Just being real.
Now, the restrooms.
From what I saw, they have two private unisex restrooms. They were spacious, had nice decor, and offered paper towels, which I always appreciate.
The main knock is accessibility. From my experience, they didn’t feel especially accessible, and that brings the score down. 🚫♿️
The restroom I used was also unclean which was a bummer.
There’s definitely potential here. The bones are good. The vibe could be great. But between the early close, underwhelming experience, and restroom accessibility concerns, Supergeil lands at a 6/10.
