Right in the thick of it: brutal game-day parking outside, and a polished date-night room with an approachable bar inside.
Sunda sits right in the thick of it. Downtown Detroit, The District, game-day traffic, concert traffic, people looking for dinner before the night turns into whatever it's going to turn into.
So let's get this out of the way: parking can be brutal. Expensive, annoying, and on a game day potentially a full-contact sport. They offer discounted valet, which might be the move if you're not trying to circle the block like a maniac.
Once inside, Sunda has something. Multiple dining rooms, strong decor, the right lighting, and a bar that actually feels approachable. I always appreciate a restaurant that gives you the B option: walk in, take a seat at the bar, order a couple of apps and drinks, and still feel like you got the experience without committing to a full table. Polished without being stiff — a little downtown, a little date night.
This one is about the room, the layout and the parking. I'm not reviewing the food or the service here.
