Detroit City Distillery is the kind of place Eastern Market was built for. It's a small-batch operation pouring its own whiskey, gin, and vodka in a century-old building on Riopelle, with a candlelit, speakeasy-ish tasting room reviewers can't stop calling intimate. The horseradish vodka has a cult following, the Paczki Day vodka causes a yearly frenzy, and creative cocktails like the Head Honcho and Rye on Fire keep the room full — regulars say show up early, because on market Saturdays the seats and the elbow room both disappear fast.

Now, the restrooms. Nobody's writing home about them, and that cuts both ways. Across hundreds of reviews on Google, Yelp, and TripAdvisor, the restrooms barely rate a mention — which usually means they're doing the job without doing anything extra. This is an old building running at capacity on busy nights, so set your expectations accordingly: serviceable, functional, and probably a wait when the tasting room is packed.
