La Ventana Cafe

La Ventana is a good-looking little coffee shop sitting on Gratiot, the kind of place that feels like it should be an easy win.

Bright enough. Welcoming enough. A room that gives you the feeling you’re supposed to sit down, sip something, maybe get a little work done, maybe pretend you’re not just avoiding your actual responsibilities.

But coffee-wise, I’ve got to be honest — it was just okay for me.

Not bad. Not offensive. Just not the cup that makes you stop, stare into the distance, and rethink your Detroit coffee rankings. Personally, I think you can find better coffee around the city.

I also didn’t think the setup was ideal for remote work. Fine for a quick stop, a casual hang, or grabbing something on the go. But if you’re trying to post up for hours and lock in, this probably wouldn’t be my first pick.

Now, the restrooms.

They have two private unisex restrooms, and this is where La Ventana gets some real points.

They were really clean, well stocked, smelled nice, and felt relatively accessible. ♿️

They also had thoughtful touches — hand soap, hand sanitizer, and a diffuser doing some work in the background.

The only real knock is privacy. The restrooms are located pretty close to where customers order and hang out, so they don’t feel quite as tucked away as you’d hope. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know before you go.

Clean, stocked, accessible, and functional. Coffee was just okay, and the remote-work setup didn’t really hit for me.
