My favorite breakfast spot in Detroit, and it comes down to three things: options, real coffee, and a mimosa made with actual champagne.
I'm going to be brutally honest. Babo is my favorite breakfast spot in Detroit.
Why? Options. Real options. Sweet, savory, healthy, and I-had-too-much-fun-last-night-and-need-to-rebuild-my-body-from-scratch options. Fresh ingredients, good portions, and enough range to bring almost anyone here and find them something they actually want to eat.
That gets you into the final round. Two things separate Babo from a lot of breakfast spots in the city.
First, real coffee. Not diner coffee. Not a Keurig hiding in the back. Coffee you could come in for on its own.
Second, booze. Cocktails, beer and, most importantly, champagne. Not Prosecco. Not sparkling wine. Actual champagne from Champagne, which makes the mimosa a proper one. Babo, you won my heart with that.
