Shooki’s Review of Atomic Coffee

By Shooki · Source published October 2026

My Royal Oak go-to: solid coffee, plenty of seating, laptops everywhere, and a restroom covering the things that actually matter. 7/10 Shooki.

It’s Friday.

I’m in the burbs.

I know. Tragic.

But if you’re going to be stuck working remotely in Royal Oak, you could do a hell of a lot worse than Atomic Coffee.

This is my go-to.

Young energy. Laptops everywhere. Somebody is actually doing serious work. Somebody else has been “meeting for coffee” for three hours. A freelancer is probably building an empire in the corner.

I love it.

There’s plenty of seating, enough energy that you don’t feel like you’re working inside a library, and the coffee is solid.

It’s the kind of place where you open the laptop at 9 AM and suddenly realize it’s 4 PM.

And then comes the best part.

Close the damn computer.

Walk outside.

Ale Mary’s and Gusoline Alley are basically waiting for you.

Coffee → work → beer.

That’s a Friday schedule I can support.

My only interruption today?

The roaming hipsters asking for “just a minute of your time” to discuss who knows what.

My friends…

I’m working.

Godspeed, but keep moving.

Atomic understands what a good neighborhood coffee shop should be.

Coffee in the morning.

A place to work all afternoon.

And several questionable decisions waiting across the street when you’re done.

Best for

  • Working remotely in Royal Oak
  • Solid coffee and plenty of seating
  • Coffee → work → beer when the laptop closes

Less ideal for

  • Working somewhere with library-level quiet
  • A restroom with anything extravagant
