Plath’s Meats Review & Bathroom Guide
Rogers City, Michigan
No restroom means no mercy. 0/10. But the shop itself? Absolute Michigan gold. This might be the best bacon and sausage I’ve ever had. Just use the restroom before you get there.

No restroom means no mercy. 0/10. But the shop itself? Absolute Michigan gold. This might be the best bacon and sausage I’ve ever had. Just use the restroom before you get there.
But outside of that?
This place is incredible.
Plath’s is the kind of old-school Michigan meat shop that makes you wonder why we ever let grocery-store bacon into our homes in the first place.
Since 1913, they’ve been doing smoked meats the real way. Bacon. Sausage. Ham. Smoked pork loin. Fish. Jerky. The kind of stuff that makes you buy way more than you planned because suddenly your cooler looks like a retirement account.
And I’m not joking when I say this might be the best bacon and sausage I’ve ever had.
Top of the line Michigan butcher work.
Legend has it they used to supply the Grand Hotel for years. Not sure if that’s still the case, but honestly, tasting this stuff, it wouldn’t surprise me.
This is not a cute little roadside gimmick.
This is serious meat.
The kind of place you stop at on the way through and immediately start texting people like, “Hey, I found something.”
But the shop itself? Absolute Michigan gold.
If you’re rolling through northern Michigan, stop in, stock up, and thank yourself later.
Best for
- Bacon and sausage that might be the best I’ve ever had
- Smoked meats, ham, pork loin, fish and jerky
- Stocking up — suddenly your cooler looks like a retirement account
Less ideal for
- A customer restroom — use one before you arrive

Restroom verdict
There was no restroom. None. No restroom means no mercy. 0/10.
- Restroom inventory
- No on-site restroom
- Review coverage
- I reported no customer restroom on my Rogers City visit, which explains the 0/10 score. No restroom was inspected or photographed. This does not establish staff-only facilities or a complete building inventory.
- Why this score
- 0/10 records no customer restroom to review during my visit. It is not a judgment of the meat shop.
- Layout
- No customer restroom was available for me to review during this visit.
- Capacity
- No customer restroom was offered during my visit.
A first in Shooki history.
0/10.
Not because the restroom was dirty.
Not because the amenities were bad.
Not because the stall was too small, the soap was missing, or the hand dryer sounded like a jet engine.
There was no restroom.
None.
And on Shooki, that’s about as brutal as it gets.
So yes, the Shooki score is painful.
No restroom means no mercy.
Just use the restroom before you get there. 🥓
