Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe Review & Bathroom Guide
Rogers City, Michigan
Bring a cooler. You’ll need it. The restroom may be stuck in another era. The sausage, thankfully, is timeless. One restroom and an older setup land Nowicki’s at 6/10.

Shooki’s Review of Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe

Some places slap the word “old-fashioned” on the packaging and hope you buy the story.
Nowicki’s doesn’t need to.
This family operation has been making sausage since 1917—long enough to watch food trends arrive, embarrass themselves, and disappear again. Through it all, they kept doing what places like this are supposed to do: take good meat, add the right spices, and stay the hell out of the way.
This isn’t the kind of shop you casually browse.
You walk in planning to grab a couple sausages and leave carrying enough smoked meat to survive a northern Michigan winter. Brats, bacon, kielbasa, jerky—the sort of things that make the grocery-store version feel like a personal insult afterward.
There’s no big performance here. No fashionable butcher counter designed for Instagram. Just more than a century of family recipes and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing exactly what you do well.
Bring a cooler. You’ll need it.
Best for
- Brats, bacon, kielbasa and jerky
- Family recipes and the quiet confidence of a proper sausage shop
- Stocking up — bring a cooler
Less ideal for
- Plenty of restroom capacity
- A modern restroom setup during my visit

Restroom verdict
One restroom is one restroom, and the older setup keeps it from climbing any higher. Nostalgia doesn’t earn extra Shooki points. 6/10.
- Restroom inventory
- 1 reviewed area — 1 private restroom area (designation unknown); total venue room count unknown
- Review coverage
- One toilet and one basin photographed in an enclosed room with soap and paper towels. My source caption reports only one restroom during this visit, which explains my capacity concern; that dated report does not independently establish a complete venue inventory. No additional room conditions, designation or current inventory were established.
- Room reviewed
- One enclosed single-user restroom from my Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe visit; designation unrecorded
- Accessibility status
- Unknown · No accessible route, dimensions or full compliance assessment was established by the caption or photographs.
- Why this score
- My caption reports only one restroom, and it was a bit dated. Capacity immediately becomes a concern. That lands Nowicki’s at 6/10.
- Layout
- My caption reports one restroom. Its room designation and locking arrangement were not confirmed.
- Capacity
- One restroom, according to my caption. Complete fixture counts were not recorded.
Now, the restroom.
There’s only one.
And my followers already know what that means: capacity immediately becomes a concern.
It was also a bit dated, but when a business has been around for more than 100 years, a little age comes with the territory. At least here, the history is real, not something purchased from an architectural salvage store six months before opening.
Still, nostalgia doesn’t earn extra Shooki points.
One restroom is one restroom, and the older setup keeps it from climbing any higher.
Nowicki’s lands at a 6/10.
The restroom may be stuck in another era.
The sausage, thankfully, is timeless.
