I fckn love Marquette.

I hate to say it, and Detroit people might come for me, but there’s a part of me that wishes Detroit was dropped right here.

A real city tucked into the woods, sitting near Lake Superior, full of friendly people who know how to work, drink, hike, ski, sauna, and make something out of the cold instead of just complain about it.

People say, “But what about the snow?”

Please. It’s freezing in Detroit too. At least up here, people seem to have built a personality around surviving it.

Marquette has that walkable downtown energy I wish more Michigan cities had. If you’re staying right downtown, nothing feels too far. You just wander, and somehow the night finds you.

That’s how I found Superior Culture.

I walked by, heard live music, and realized this wasn’t just some house. It was a bar. A full-on bar built into a house, which is exactly the kind of weird, perfect thing I want more of.

Live music. Beer and wine flowing. Upstairs, downstairs, people packed in, good energy, no overthinking it.

This place was lit.

Now, the restrooms.

They have one downstairs and another upstairs, both private unisex. That’s not bad, but capacity and accessibility are the big knocks here. When a place gets moving, two restrooms in an old house setup can get tricky fast.

And accessibility is definitely not ideal, though I get it — older buildings come with older problems. 🚫♿️

Still, hell of a cool spot.
