Macomb, Michigan
If you’re putting together a Michigan dive bar bucket list, Rudy’s absolutely belongs on it. Just maybe make a restroom stop before you get there. 2/10.

If you’re putting together a Michigan dive bar bucket list, Rudy’s absolutely belongs on it. Just maybe make a restroom stop before you get there. 2/10.
If you’re chasing Michigan’s greatest dive bars…
You can’t skip Rudy’s.
Every state has places that refuse to change with the times. Rudy’s is one of them.
It all starts with two words:
Cash. Only.
No Apple Pay. No tap to pay. No fancy POS system asking if you want to tip 30%.
Just cold, hard cash.
And honestly… I kind of respect it.
The room is dark. The walls are covered with decades of memorabilia. There’s karaoke on certain nights, cheap drinks, and a bar that feels intimidating for about thirty seconds… until the person next to you starts a conversation.
That’s the magic of a real dive bar.
Nobody cares where you came from. They just want to know what you’re drinking.
This is the kind of place people write songs about after they’ve forgotten half the night.
Best for
- A real dive bar with decades of memorabilia
- Cheap drinks, karaoke on certain nights and conversations with the person next to you
- A Michigan dive bar bucket list stop
Less ideal for
- Arriving without cash — it was cash only during my visit
- The men’s restroom and the accessibility and family-facility concerns in my caption

Now, the restrooms.
Well…
Dive bars tend to follow a certain pattern.
The men’s restroom certainly did.
Very little attention to detail. Bare minimum amenities. Rough around the edges. The kind of restroom that reminds you the priority here has always been the bar—not what happens after your third beer.
🚫♿️ 🚫✨ 🚫🚼 🚫🧑🧑🧒🧒
It lands at a 2/10.
No surprises.
No sugarcoating.
But somehow… it almost feels like part of the experience.
