The Shooki Review

Visited June 2026

I had quite a few people request this one, and I’ve got to say — I’m glad they did.

Horrocks is magical.

Serving the Lansing area for over 60 years, this place feels like a grocery store, garden center, coffee shop, pizza stop, beer garden, wine run, candy shop, deli, and adult playground all smashed together in the best way possible.

I honestly don’t know if there’s anything else like this in Michigan. If there is, please tell me immediately.

Fruits, veggies, flowers, plants, olive oil, sushi, pizza, coffee, popcorn, beer, wine — the list just keeps going. It’s like Willy Wonka opened a farm market for adults who want to shop with a drink in their hand.

And yes, they have bars inside.

You can grab a beer while shopping, or post up outside by the pond with a drink and pretend this was always the plan. That alone makes Horrocks worth the trip.

Very surprised this exists in Lansing of all places, but respect where respect is due.

Now, the restrooms.

From what I saw, they had about four restrooms throughout the facility, male and female. For a place this large and busy, I expected capacity and cleanliness to be a problem — but honestly, they held up pretty well.

They covered the important stuff: baby changing stations, accessibility, capacity, and cleanliness. ♿️🚼✨

The only real knock is location. Depending on where you’re hanging out, especially near the bars or outside with a drink, the restrooms can feel a little far away.

Not a dealbreaker, just something to know before you’re three beers deep and wandering through the produce section looking for salvation.

Horrocks lands at a 7/10.

Highly recommend making a day of it. Hit Grand Ledge for a hike, then end here with groceries, pizza, plants, and a beer — or do it the other way around if you like to live dangerously.
