First things first — Vecino has one of the best vibes in Detroit.
The second you walk in, the place has a pulse. Big beautiful bar, strong design, comfortable seating, and the kind of setup where you could easily end up talking to someone local over a drink without trying too hard.
And the backyard? That might be the real move. It gives off that “somewhere in Spain” feeling for a second.
Food and drink wise, though, I wasn’t blown away. Maybe I’m spoiled being close to Southwest, where you can find similar food for WAY less money and, in some cases, just as good or better. I’ve got to call that how I see it.
Now, the restrooms.
They have two private unisex restrooms located toward the back, just right of the kitchen. They’re extremely dimly lit, and with the black toilets , ⚠️it was a little hard to tell how clean everything actually was.
I also noticed some toilet paper scattered on the floor, so between the lighting and cleanliness question, the score came down a bit.
That said, they did have nice-smelling hand soap, paper towels, and the restrooms were relatively accessible. ♿️
Beautiful space. Great vibe. Restroom was solid, but not quite at the level of the decor.
See where Vecino ranks among Detroit's top Mexican restaurants.
