Roar Brewing Company Review & Bathroom Guide
Detroit, Michigan
Beer, food, Detroit energy, and a dangerous spot for “just one beer.” The Shooki is clean and private, but one restroom and difficult accessibility from my experience keep it at 6/10.

Beer, food, Detroit energy, and a dangerous spot for “just one beer.” The Shooki is clean and private, but one restroom and difficult accessibility from my experience keep it at 6/10.
Some places are built for winter.
Roar feels built for that first good Detroit day when the garage doors are open, the patio is alive, and everybody suddenly remembers they actually like being outside.
Tucked into Selden between Medusa and Barcade, it’s also in a pretty dangerous location if your original plan was “just one beer.”
Because that can very quickly become:
One beer here.
A drink next door.
A few games after that.
And now somehow it’s midnight.
Roar itself has that neighborhood brewery thing going for it.
Casual. Open-air. Sports on. People hanging around longer than they planned.
Nothing overly precious.
Just beer, food, Detroit energy, and enough room to settle in for a while.
And I respect the story too.
Veteran-owned. Community-minded. Built around making craft beer feel approachable instead of turning every pint into a chemistry lesson.
That’s how breweries should be.
The brewery, though?
Definitely worth a stop.
Grab a beer. Sit outside. Watch a game. Bounce around Selden afterward.
Detroit summer doesn’t last long enough to waste it indoors.
Best for
- A beer outside on a good Detroit day
- Watching a game and settling in for a while
- Bouncing around Selden afterward
Less ideal for
- Restroom capacity when the place gets busy
- Restroom accessibility from my experience

Restroom verdict
Clean, private and well kept, with cool decor. But only one restroom, and accessibility wasn’t great from my experience. 6/10 Shooki.
- Restroom inventory
- 1 reviewed area — 1 private gender-neutral room; total venue room count unknown
- Review coverage
- My review reports one restroom, and that private room was photographed and reviewed. This is not an independent count of every restroom in the property.
- Room reviewed
- Private gender-neutral restroom from my visit
- Accessibility status
- Unknown · Accessibility was not great from my experience during this visit.
- Why this score
- Only one restroom puts 6/10 at the ceiling under my rule, even when it’s clean and well kept. Capacity matters, and accessibility wasn’t great from my experience.
- Layout
- Private, with cool decor; accessibility wasn’t great from my experience.
- Capacity
- Only one restroom. Once the place gets busy, one toilet becomes everybody’s problem.
The restroom was clean, private and well kept, with cool decor. Accessibility wasn’t great from my experience, and there was only one restroom.
And you already know my rule.
If an establishment only has one restroom, 6/10 is the ceiling.
Doesn’t matter how nice it is.
Once a place gets busy, one toilet becomes everybody’s problem.
Capacity matters.
And unfortunately, accessibility matters even more.
So Roar lands at a 6/10 Shooki.
The restroom itself was clean and well kept.
There just isn’t enough of it.
