Great location next to the Shinola Hotel, and I think the coffee is solid — top ten in the city for sure.
But one of my favorite things about a coffee shop is being able to hang around a while with it, Parisian style, or work there for a few hours. Madcap doesn't have that vibe here. It's built more like a Qdoba or a Chipotle: get in, get your coffee, get out, be on your way.
That's a shame in a spot this well placed, because everything else about the cup is right.

- A serious espresso downtown
- Parker's Alley and the Shinola Hotel block
- A quick cup on the way somewhere

- Working for a few hours

One restroom, for anyone to use. It's very clean and genuinely spacious, white tile and polished concrete, with grab bars on two walls and a steel baby changing table, which is nice to see in a café this size.
A few things hold it down for me. There's the jet-engine hand dryer and no paper towel option. And the room isn't really private — you're basically standing next to the queue for the counter.
Most importantly, one restroom. That caps it. A 6/10 is the best I can do here.
