Great location next to the Shinola hotel. I think they have solid coffee. Top ten in the city for sure.
However, one of my favorite things about a coffee shop is the ability to hang around for a little bit while I enjoy my coffee (Parisian style), or sometimes work there for a few hours.
IMO, Madcap doesn’t have that vibe here. It looks like it’s more built like a Qdoba/Chipotle. Get in and get your coffee and then get out and be on your way.
Restroom: They have (1) unisex bathroom. It’s very clean and spacious. It includes a baby changing station which is nice. It appears to be accessible ♿️.
However, there are a few cons here for me. They have the jet engine hand dryer and no option of paper towels. The restroom isn’t really that private either, you’re basically next to people standing in line for their order.
And lastly, most importantly, only (1) bathroom spots bring the rating down lower for me. (6/10) is the best I can do with this one.
See where Madcap Coffee ranks among Detroit's top coffee shops.

Reviewers praise Madcap's high-quality pour-overs, lattes, and specialty drinks, calling it one of Detroit's best coffee shops. Its Parker's Alley location behind the Shinola Hotel is convenient, though several note the space is small and geared more toward grab-and-go than lingering.
