The Shooki Review

For 11 years, Jolly Pumpkin was the anchor of the Canfield strip in Midtown — the Detroit outpost of Michigan's sour-beer royalty, pouring oak-aged wild ales like Bam Bière alongside thin-crust pizzas and truffle fries that regulars still bring up unprompted. The room had that rehabbed-industrial Midtown look, and on a good night it hummed with students, beer nerds, and pre-game crowds. It closed in March 2026, though the brand insists it's not done with Detroit.

Now, the restrooms. Chatter on this one was thin, but what's out there leaned decent: one reviewer described the toilets tucked at the back as spotless, and the venue itself made a point of going touchless — motion-sensor sinks and foot pulls on the doors, a genuinely smart move. So why not higher? Depth, mostly. Clean and functional was the read, but nobody was writing home about them, and in a room that packed in this many people on a busy Friday, you'd have been waiting your turn. Serviceable, tidy, unremarkable — the classic solid-not-special restroom.

Pour out a sour for this one. Jolly Pumpkin landed at a 7/10 on Shooki.
