Shooki has officially left the ground 🚁
Most people don’t even realize Detroit has a city airport — not Metro, not suburban… right in the city.
And yes, they’ll strap you into a helicopter and send you over Detroit if you ask nicely (and pay). I said yes.
Seeing Detroit from above is wild — neighborhoods make sense, downtown shrinks, the river takes over, and everything suddenly feels bigger and more beautiful than it does on the ground.
Then the wind hits and you start questioning aviation as a concept 😅
A little dodgy up there, not gonna lie. If heights aren’t your thing… maybe sit this one out.
But otherwise? Do it. You’ll never see Detroit the same way again.
Best for
- Seeing Detroit from above on a helicopter tour
- A different view of the neighborhoods, downtown and the river
- Clean and spacious restrooms during my visit
Less ideal for
- Helicopter rides if heights aren’t your thing
- Expecting fancy restrooms or extra amenities
