A French cafe in the basement of a 19th-century Midtown mansion — mid-century furniture, deco lines, low light. Coffee and bagels early, cocktails later, and the room handles both without changing clothes. Students work here in the afternoon; at night there is music and sometimes a DJ. The lattes and the chocolate croissants are what people come back for.
