Shooki’s Review of Barcade

Every city needs a place like this.
A room where your inner 80s/90s child can crawl out of whatever responsible adult you’ve become and waste an evening playing video games.
Barcade has 70+ vintage arcade and pinball machines.
And they still take tokens.
Beautiful.
No downloading an app. No scanning a QR code. No loading $37.84 onto some plastic card you’ll lose before your next visit.
Put the damn token in the machine and play.
Street Fighter. Mortal Kombat. Pinball. Beat-’em-ups. Whatever takes you back to being twelve years old again.
Except now you’re twelve with a beer.
Civilization has its advantages.
They’ve got 24 rotating beer taps, cocktails, food, and most importantly, a staff that was cool as hell and actually welcoming.
Then somewhere along the night you end up battling a complete stranger at a game you both haven’t played in twenty years.
You talk shit.
Somebody loses.
Another beer gets ordered.
And suddenly you’ve made a friend.
That’s what places like this are for.
Detroit needed it.
Grab some tokens. Grab a drink. Lose track of time.
Just don’t judge the Shooki by its cover. 👀🤣
Best for
- Vintage arcade and pinball machines that still take tokens
- Rotating beer taps, cocktails and food
- A staff that was cool as hell and actually welcoming
Less ideal for
- Paper towels—none during my visit
The Shooki Bathroom Review
First-party restroom record · Source published September 2026
Restroom verdict
Surprisingly clean underneath all that graffiti-covered, punk-rock bathroom energy. Accessibility and a clean restroom in a busy arcade bar earn respect. 7/10.
- Restroom inventory
- 2 total — 1 shared men’s restroom and 1 women’s restroom
- Review coverage
- My caption reports two restrooms: male and female. The gallery documents the MEN entrance and interior only, with two visible urinals, one toilet enclosure, two basins and a hand dryer. The WOMEN interior was not reviewed, and venue-wide fixture counts remain unknown.
- Room reviewed
- The MEN restroom interior from my Barcade visit
- Accessibility status
- Unknown · My caption reports wheelchair lift/elevation access, and the MEN entrance has a wheelchair symbol. These are visit observations; alternate routes and accessibility compliance were not verified.
- Why this score
- Cleanliness is king on Shooki, and somehow this thing held up. No paper towels hurts me deeply, but accessibility and cleanliness earned it a 7/10.
- Layout
- Two restrooms—male and female—according to my caption. Exact fixture counts were not recorded.
- Capacity
- Solid capacity during my visit; I didn’t record exact fixture counts.
I know.
Some of you are looking at the restroom photos right now thinking:
“There’s no f*cking way this got a 7.”
Hear me out.
Two restrooms — male and female.
And underneath all that intimidating, graffiti-covered, punk-rock bathroom energy?
✨ Surprisingly clean ♿️ Wheelchair lift/elevation access 🚽 Solid capacity 🚫 No paper towels
The decor makes you prepare for the worst.
But cleanliness is king on Shooki, and somehow this thing held up.
No paper towels hurts me deeply, but accessibility and a clean restroom in a busy arcade bar earn respect.
7/10.
