Anthology Coffee is Detroit coffee royalty — roasting since 2012 and now set up in a big repurposed warehouse in Eastern Market. Single-origin only, no blends, roasted in back on their own roaster, and reviewers rave: pour-overs done right, baristas who genuinely want to talk beans, and a bright, plant-filled room with garage doors that open the whole place up in summer. The pastries are baked in-house daily, gluten-free options included — which nobody sees coming. The word on Anthology is that it's one of the calmest, most work-friendly rooms in the city — until the Saturday market crowds roll through, anyway.

Now, the restrooms. Here's the honest part: nobody's writing home about them either way. Dig through the reviews and you'll find endless love for the coffee and the space, and near-total silence on the restroom — which usually means it does the job and not much more. Expect a functional cafe restroom in a converted warehouse: fine for a quick stop, but don't expect the extras that push a score up on Shooki. And on a packed market Saturday, one busy room full of coffee drinkers can put real pressure on it.
