For my east siders who are making their way up north this summer and you’re looking for a little taste of home (Detroit). I’ve found just the spot for ya.
Located in downtown Bay City, The Public House offers some absolute solid cocktails. I heard a rumor they actually have some strong connections with our friends at Sugar House and Wright & Company back in Detroit, if that tells you anything…
I was kind of hooked right when I walked in with how sweet their bar situation is. Nothing like it in Detroit that I’ve come across. Basically, the whole back wall is covered with plants and it really sets the vibe in the place. You almost feel like you’re having a drink in the jungle.
Restrooms:
I thought the restrooms were built out just right. They were well stocked, clean, spacious, and the decor matched the rest of the style of the historical building.
Only con for me is since it’s an old historical building accessibility is a problem here ♿️

Downtown in the Shearer Building, reviewers consistently praise the handcrafted artisan cocktails and tapas-style shareables like bacon-wrapped dates and baked brie. Service is called attentive and knowledgeable, and the whitewashed-brick interior gets noted as a stylish, date-night-friendly space.
