Good pasta. Good wine. Solid hospitality. And a restroom that mostly understands the assignment. 8/10.
Sometimes you don’t need downtown.
No fighting for parking. No circling the block. No pretending the fifteen-minute walk back to the car is part of the experience.
Paesano sits out on Washtenaw doing its own thing.
Old-school Italian. Fresh pasta. Bread and herb butter hitting the table before you’ve made any responsible decisions. A serious wine list. Families eating together. Couples drinking red wine. Staff moving around a room that feels comfortable enough to actually stay awhile.
And honestly, I respect that.
The reviews seem to agree. People keep coming back for the pasta, minestrone, ravioli, wine, and that cozy neighborhood-Italian feeling that has become increasingly difficult to fake.
The wine list deserves some respect too. Enough Old World bottles to keep me occupied, and apparently enough substance to earn a Wine Spectator award.
That’s my kind of homework.
Best for
- Old-school Italian, fresh pasta, bread and herb butter
- A serious wine list and a cozy neighborhood-Italian feeling
- A clean, quiet restroom during my visit
Less ideal for
- Maneuvering inside the tight stalls

Restroom verdict
Super clean and quiet, with private stalls, a baby changing station and nice amenities. The stalls were tight, and accessibility brought the score down during my visit. 8/10.

- Review coverage
- Photos document two toilet stalls, two urinals, two basins, soap, paper towels and a baby changing station in one shared interior. No designation sign was recorded. My caption describes a quiet, private feeling, while the photos show shared facilities with stall doors. Other rooms, exact full venue fixture counts and locking arrangements were not recorded.
- Room reviewed
- One shared restroom interior from my Paesano visit; designation unrecorded
- Accessibility status
- Unknown · Not accessible and tight stalls describe my experience during this visit. Alternate routes, measurements and accessibility compliance were not verified.
- Why this score
- You can have a spotless restroom with everything stocked properly, but if somebody has trouble maneuvering inside, points have to come off. Still, this was a strong one. 8/10.
- Layout
- My review covers the restroom I visited. The caption does not identify all venue restroom designations or establish a complete room inventory.
- Capacity
- The stalls felt tight during my visit. Exact fixture and venue-wide room counts were not recorded.
Now, the restrooms.
✨ Super clean 🚪 Private and quiet ♿️ Not accessible unfortunately 🚫 🚼 Baby changing station 🧴 Nice amenities
This was heading toward serious Shooki territory.
Then came the stalls.
They’re tight.
For most people, probably not a huge deal. But when accessibility is part of the score, space matters. You can have a spotless restroom with everything stocked properly, but if somebody has trouble maneuvering inside, points have to come off.
Still, this was a strong one.
Clean, private, well maintained, and thankfully not getting destroyed by a packed dining room.
Paesano lands at an 8/10.
