Austin Brothers Beer Company Review & Bathroom Guide

Alpena, Michigan

Big space. Plenty of outdoor seating. Cornhole waiting in the yard. Cold beer moving across the tables. A strong first impression and a solid stop on my northern Michigan rounds.

Big space. Plenty of outdoor seating. Cornhole waiting in the yard. Cold beer moving across the tables. A strong first impression and a solid stop on my northern Michigan rounds.

I take the brakes off and I ride.

Making my rounds through northern Michigan, I found myself outside downtown Alpena at @austinbrosbeerco - Tucked away in its own little corner, far enough off the beaten path that you feel like you actually discovered something.

First impression?

Strong.

Big space. Plenty of outdoor seating. Cornhole waiting in the yard. Cold beer moving across the tables. The kind of place that immediately tells you to stop rushing, grab a drink, and enjoy whatever remains of a Michigan summer day.

I caught the sun starting to fall, the smoke had finally eased up a little, and for a minute, everything felt exactly right.

The space is naturally accessible too. Plenty of room to move around without having to squeeze between parked tables or perform some kind of brewery obstacle course ♿️

The beer was solid, and the story behind the place made me like it even more.

A family owned brewery that came from California, landed in Alpena, and found a climate that apparently knows how to make good beer. I can respect that.

Especially at a time when more Michigan breweries seem to be disappearing into the hands of the big guys. No shade. I’m just happy to see another independent operation helping keep Michigan beer interesting.

Best for

  • Cold beer and outdoor seating on a Michigan summer day
  • Cornhole and taking the brakes off for a while
  • A brewery with room to move around during my visit

Less ideal for

  • Expecting a baby changing station in the men’s room I reviewed
  • Relying on lots of toilet-stall capacity when the brewery is busy

First-party restroom record · Source published July 2026

Restroom verdict

Pretty clean, accessible during my visit and thankfully stocked with paper towels. Basic amenities, no baby changing station and the capacity concern kept it at 7/10.

Restroom inventory
1 reviewed area — 1 shared men’s restroom and 1 women’s restroom; total venue room count unknown
Review coverage
My caption reports one men’s and one women’s restroom; I reviewed only the men’s. Photos show MEN and wheelchair door signage, two urinals, two basins, soap, paper towels and one photographed toilet stall with grab rails. This is the visit report, not a verified full building inventory. Women’s interior, further fixture totals and stall lock operation were not established. My no baby changing station observation applies to the reviewed men’s restroom.

Accessibility status
Unknown · I described the venue and reviewed restroom as accessible during my visit. Wheelchair door signage and stall grab rails are photographed. Complete routes, measurements and accessibility compliance were not verified.
Why this score
I reviewed the men’s restroom: pretty clean and accessible during my visit, with basic amenities and paper towels. No baby changing station, and I thought it could use another stall for a place this size. 7/10.
Layout
My caption identifies one men’s and one women’s restroom. I reviewed the men’s; the women’s interior was not reviewed. The gallery documents the men’s setup during that visit.
Capacity
I thought the men’s could use another stall to support a venue this size. That is my visit-specific capacity concern, not a report of a measured queue.

Restrooms:

They have one men’s and one women’s. I reviewed the men’s of course.

✨ Pretty clean ♿️ Accessible 🚫 No baby changing station ➖Basic amenities, but thankfully they have paper towels 🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Could use another stall just for potentially capacity issues with the size of the place
