Alpenrose Review & Bathroom Guide

Vail, Colorado

The restaurant itself? I’d absolutely go back. Come hungry. Order the schnitzel. Drink something German. Just remember to use the restroom before the rush.

Shooki’s Review of Alpenrose

The restaurant itself? I’d absolutely go back. Come hungry. Order the schnitzel. Drink something German. Just remember to use the restroom before the rush.

Vail is already a strange little place.

Walk around long enough and you start wondering whether you’re still in Colorado or somehow wandered into a European ski village where everyone owns expensive sunglasses.

Then you find Alpenrose.

And for a couple hours, you might as well be in the Alps.

Schnitzel. Spätzle. Bratwurst. Fondue. Giant beers. Schnapps.

The place is warm, cozy, slightly over-the-top and completely committed to the bit.

Except it doesn’t really feel like a bit.

A lot of the staff are international, including people from Germany and Austria. You hear German being spoken around the restaurant, the hospitality feels European, and suddenly ordering another half-liter of beer seems like the responsible thing to do.

Food?

Excellent.

Service?

Excellent.

Atmosphere?

About as close to Bavaria as you’re getting without leaving Colorado.

Best for

  • Excellent food and service during my visit
  • A warm, cozy Alpine atmosphere
  • Schnitzel, spätzle, bratwurst, fondue and giant beers

Less ideal for

  • A downstairs restroom and one men’s-room stall for a busy restaurant

The Shooki Bathroom Review

First-party restroom record · Source published August 2026

Restroom verdict

Very clean, with a baby changing station. But downstairs and one stall in the men’s room hurt the capacity and accessibility. 6/10.

Restroom inventory
1 reviewed area — 1 shared men’s restroom; total venue room count unknown
Review coverage
My caption reviews the downstairs MEN restroom with one toilet stall. The gallery shows two urinals, a basin, soap and hand dryer; a baby changing station appears in the downstairs corridor. Other rooms and full venue room and fixture counts were not recorded.
Room reviewed
The MEN restroom from my Alpenrose visit
Accessibility status
Unknown · Not particularly accessible describes my visit: the restroom was downstairs. Alternate routes and accessibility compliance were not verified.
Why this score
The restroom was remarkably clean, and I give them credit for the baby changing station. Its downstairs location and limited capacity brought it to 6/10.
Layout
My visit covered the downstairs men’s room. The caption records one stall; it does not establish the full venue inventory.
Capacity
Only one stall in the men’s room during my visit—tough capacity for such a busy restaurant.

Then nature calls.

And unfortunately, the Alpine adventure continues.

Down the stairs we go.

🚽 Only one stall in the men’s room 🚫 Not particularly accessible 👥 Tough capacity for such a busy restaurant ✨ Very clean 🚼 Baby changing station

This is a popular Vail restaurant.

One stall just isn’t enough.

And putting the restroom downstairs creates an obvious problem for anyone who has difficulty navigating stairs.

That’s where the score gets hurt.

Because once you’re actually inside?

It’s remarkably clean.

And I absolutely give them credit for including a baby changing station.

So we’re left with a restroom that’s well cared for, but fundamentally limited by its location and capacity.

6/10 Shooki.
